The voestalpine Group is one of the leading partners to the automotive and consumer goods industries in Europe. As part of their global expansion, voestalpine contracted Evans to build their new automobile body and frame stamping facility in Cartersville, Georgia.

The building is composed of concrete tilt-up walls, pre-manufactured steel joists and a mechanically fastened TPO roof system, containing a total of 45,000 SF of manufacturing and production space and 3,000 SF of office space. The terrain in the area provided a unique and challenging site work scope for Evans. The loads imposed by the heavy equipment and coil storage required the building to be supported by steel H-piles. The 20’ deep press pit is designed to support an equipment load of 570 tons. The coil storage area and portions of the press pit and tunnel are supported by 110 piles ranging in depth from 30’ to 80’ below FFE. Evans was responsible for all site work, building construction and MEP systems including a fully air conditioned production area and a QA/QC room with a completely separate HVAC system and advanced humidity controls.
