President’s Message: Creating business alignment and achieving stated company goals

Laying a foundation for operational excellence, we increased our revenue in the Advanced Technology and Manufacturing market segments from 15-20% of total revenue to nearly 50% of total revenue and we were able to close the year with company revenue over $2 Billion.  More importantly, we have an extremely strong backlog of work which will keep us busy for all of 2024 and well into 2025.

In early January, Evans expanded our Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) and Building Information Modeling (BIM) capabilities, hiring a dedicated team to help clients achieve value and build more efficiently. Throughout the year, we added leadership and senior team members as part of Evans’ planned growth. This included MEP and Industrial Engineering experts to support the complexity of our project requirements and to help advance our service offering for future pursuits.

Towards mid-year, supporting our goal of Everyone Home Safe, Evans built a Corporate Training Center for safety training, focused learning sessions, and client meetings. We further invested in our software platforms like Autodesk and HammerTech to support the field and bridge the gap between data and learning which allows us to train teams, spot trends, and diagnose and solve potential issues.

We also received national recognition in 2023 for having a strong workplace culture and improved industry rankings. Evans was awarded Top Workplaces USA and Top Workplaces Atlanta and ranked by Engineering News Record (ENR) #56 in their Top 400 Contractors, #5 in ENR Southeast, and #1 design-builder. STEP Platinum was achieved through the Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Safety Management System and an Excellence in Construction (EIC) Award of Merit given through ABC Carolinas.

None of this was achieved by happenstance. It is the culmination of hard work that has required us to “be in the details”. This year we moved forward by being intentional. We were deliberate about our employee growth, we set measurable revenue goals, we paid attention to our culture, and we were purposeful with how we are maturing as a company.

Going into 2024 we will lead with intent making sure that we focus on culture and training to set ourselves up for success in the years to come. Intentionality increases our value to our employees and partners while bringing deeper purpose to what it means to call ourselves Evans General Contractors.

RT Evans, President & CEO
