Evans Receives ABC Georgia’s Excellence in Construction Award
The Arglass Glass Container Plant achieves excellence in the $50-$100 million Industrial category
ATLANTA, GA (June 29, 2022) – Associated Builders and Contractors (ABC) Georgia Chapter honored Evans General Contractors with an Excellence in Construction (EIC) Award for its work on the Arglass Glass Container Plant in Valdosta, GA.
The EIC award annually recognizes and celebrates outstanding projects by Georgia ABC members and was presented June 23 at the 2022 EIC and Safety Awards Gala at the Fox Theater in Atlanta. The program is the industry’s leading competition honoring innovative and high-quality construction projects that are judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety, and cost.
The Arglass Glass Container Plant was submitted because it was a unique project for Evans. The scope included many complex process system installations as well as the design-build of a 437,940 sf multi-level manufacturing facility, a 10,626 sf rail-served multi-level mezzanine batch plant with silos, and a 300 sf single-story gatehouse. It is the first new plant to be built, in America, in a generation and revolutionizes glass manufacturing.
“Evans was responsive and agile to the many coordination requirements for this project with coordination of equipment suppliers and vendors from across the globe,” stated Jose Arozamena, Founder and CEO of Arglass Southeast, LLC. “Advanced planning with Arglass contractors and vendors were required and resulted in a successful, on-time, start-up of the furnace in 2020”.
Arglass is now eligible to compete in the 33rd Annual National Excellence in Construction Awards© where it will be up against projects from across the county.
“We are honored to accept this award and to compete nationally but are prouder of the project team who executed with precision. They worked tirelessly to overcome obstacles, while maintaining the vision of the owners need for efficiency and sustainability,” commented Jeff Jepson, EVP/COO of Evans. “Building a fully functioning manufacturing plant of this magnitude requires innovation and commitment from all levels and this award is a testament to that”.
During the Gala, Evans was also recognized as a STEP Silver recipient for Safety.
