Imeson Building E achieves excellence in the $100+ million Mega Project category

The EIC award annually recognizes and celebrates outstanding projects by Florida First Coast ABC members and was presented August 5th at the 2022 EIC and Safety Awards Gala at the Hyatt Regency Jacksonville Riverfront in Jacksonville, FL. The program is the industry’s leading competition recognizing the outstanding merit shop projects of the year. They are judged on complexity, attractiveness, unique challenges overcome, completion time, workmanship, innovation, safety, and cost.

The Imeson Building E e-commerce fulfillment center was a unique and complex build for Evans that encompassed two major construction phases – the shell building and tenant improvements. Scope included a 1.1M sf multi-level building, an expedited schedule, complex/multifaceted coordination, and a constantly evolving design. Once the shell building was constructed, Evans coordinated with the tenant and their multiple vendors to achieve maximum functionality and space accommodation in a combined effort to facilitate the production capabilities of this building and meet the tenant’s high-volume demand. Design allows for maximum storage volume while accelerating the direct-to-consumer delivery systems. Clean energy options such as EV truck charging stations and the ability to accommodate a full solar panel array on the roof were also included.

“This specific building model is one of only four attempted and (to date) second delivered for this e-commerce client” said Gavin Finley, Senior Project Manager for this project. “It is a hybrid of the client’s intake, mass storage, robotic processing/sortation, and distribution systems”.

Jeff Jepson, EVP/COO of Evans remarked that “Achieving excellence in construction is something Evans strives for in all projects. Being recognized for that is truly special. This project consisted of 12 separate early access milestones including the coordinated transfer to tenant operations. Deadlines were important to meet and tenant specific vendor/direct installations were complex. The team rose to meet all expectations and this award is a direct result of their synergy and collective passion to deliver a successful mega project.”

During the Gala, Evans was also recognized as a STEP Silver recipient for Safety.
