Project Details
Novartis is a global leader in the research, development, and manufacturing of optical and ophthalmic products. Alcon contracted with Evans for the construction management of an expansion and the coordination of several upgrades to their headquarters in Johns Creek, Georgia.
Work performed included the build-out/expansion of multiple offices and laboratories. Spaces ranged from class 10 to class 100K cleanrooms, a pilot production area, research, and development labs, a 10K sf data center, a state-of-the art 20K sf cafeteria and upgrades to the existing central energy plant. Upgrades to the plant included the addition of a new 1500 AMP service, 25 KVA transformer, a 350-ton centrifugal chiller and cooling tower, an 800 GMP chilled water pump, and a 1,100 GMP condenser water pump. Architectural openings and structural modifications were required to accommodate the new equipment. All work was completed over several phases without disrupting services to any existing labs or research facilities.
