Project Details
CenterPoint Properties provides modern logistics solutions for their clients through the development and management of industrial property along with related rail, road, and port infrastructure. On behalf of their client BMW Automotive, CenterPoint contracted with Evans for the fast-track construction of a new light assembly and distribution facility. The building’s location was strategically selected for its proximity to the newly built South Carolina Inland Port (SCIP) in Greer, South Carolina.
The 415,000 sf build-to-suit facility sits on a shallow spread footing foundation and is constructed of conventional steel and joist tilt-up wall panels with a TPO membrane roof. One wall in the fully air-conditioned warehouse is constructed of metal siding to accommodate future expansion. The distribution area features 39 dock positions on one side of the building with rail access on the opposite side. The building also contains 10,000 sf of office and administrative space. Scope of work included complete shell building construction, tenant build-out, and a comprehensive site work package. This building now houses BMW’s semi-knocked down export packaging operation for their X-series automobiles.
This facility is LEED Certified.
