Project Details
Evans was awarded the construction of BMW’s high-voltage battery assembly plant which plays an
important role in electric mobility at their first plant in the United States, located in Spartanburg.
The state-of-the-art facility produces the sixth-generation batteries to supply fully electric vehicles at
BMW manufacturing facilities. The facility is 1.4M SF with an additional 165K SF of office space, an energy
center, and electrical substation mezzanines. On site, there will also be a fire station with two apparatus
bays, a pump house, two network control centers, primary and secondary guardhouses, a high voltage
switchgear building, and a 2-level kitchen/cafeteria designed to feed 300+/- per shift. Additionally, the
design considerations were implemented with respect to sustainability, flexibility, and digitalization of
the manufacturing process.
