Project Details
CenterPoint Properties on behalf of the tenant, BMW, contracted with Evans on an expansion project to an existing facility. Due to the growth of BMW’s export of product, close location near the main plant, and proximity to their Inland Port building which has direct rail access, the current 415,000 sf building no longer suited the auto giant’s distribution requirements.
Evans scope of work for the two-story, 296,000 sf building expansion included 32’ clear height, tilt panel concrete walls and approximately 10,000 sf of office space. Site work included wetland mitigation and 40ft deep fills. Despite abnormally wet weather, the project was delivered on time. At delivery, the complete facility totaled approximately 700,000 sf and is utilized for the warehousing and distribution of BMW products as well as light assembly of BMW vehicle components.
The relationship with CenterPoint Properties and BMW is strong in that this project marks more than a handful of projects completed together. Evans goal, with any project, is to perform work with such high quality and great integrity that clients choose the firm for repeat work.
