Project Details
BMW Automotive has provided premium brands and services to the world including their well-known automobiles for over 90 years. In an effort to expand their global automotive operations, BMW constructed their first plant in the United States, a production facility located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Several years later, BMW contracted with Evans to complete a two-phase expansion to the existing plant, BMW Flex-Hub and BMW Inland Port.
BMW Inland Port, the second-half of the expansion is located in Greer, SC. Through a developer client, Evans was contracted to build a total of over 700,000 sf of third-party logistics space for the sole purpose of supporting the import and export operations of the BMW X-Series models. This facility is LEED certified, using tilt-wall construction and is fully air-conditioned. This operation has helped the Spartanburg BMW Operation become the single largest production plant in the BMW portfolio.
Technical details within the facility include: ESFR fire protection system instead of NFPA; 4,000 sf build-out including general office space, conference space, break room and shipping/receiving offices; Fully integrated security system including access control, motion sensors and CCTV system; Data package including fiber optic and CAT cabling throughout providing wireless and wired connectivity for equipment, operational software management and Building Management System; Connective canopy providing weatherproof, seamless access between Phases 2 and 3.
