Project Details
BMW Automotive has provided premium brands and services to the world including their well-known automobiles for over 90 years. In an effort to expand their global automotive operations, BMW constructed their first plant in the United States, a production facility located in Spartanburg, South Carolina. Several years later, BMW contracted with Evans to complete a two-phase expansion to the existing plant.
This crucial expansion to the plant was necessary to keep pace with BMW’s increased production needs and served as a solution to their material transportation needs. Phase I included a 144,000 sf logistics center expansion complete with logistical support offices and twelve new dock positions. Phase II included a 12,800 sf expansion of the existing logistics center as well as four new dock positions, an elevated building connector between the assembly plant and logistics facility and four large freight elevators used for transferring materials between the two areas. Scope of work included demolition, shell building construction/improvements, tenant build-out, and equipment installation.
