Project Details
Cummins Turbo Technologies is the industry leader in diesel engine technology and the world’s largest and most successful manufacturer of turbochargers and diesel engines. On behalf of Cummins, Bradley Associates contracted with Evans to design-build their two-phase manufacturing facility in Ladson, South Carolina.
Phase I is a 123,000 sf building composed of a conventional steel structure with insulated precast concrete wall panels and a mechanically fastened TPO roof system. The production area boasts a central energy plant using air and power generation for process lines as well as six test cells used for beta testing, is fully air-conditioned and illuminated to 40 FTC. The 30,000 sf administrative area features a mezzanine overlooking the lobby, office and meeting spaces and a large employee break room. Scope of work included design-build services, complete shell building construction, all mechanical process installations, and tenant build-out.
Phase II is an 83,250 sf expansion to the original facility. Evans provided design-build services for the project and worked hand-in-hand with Cummins regarding modifications and tie-ins with Phase I. The expansion included 72,000 sf of fully air-conditioned manufacturing space featuring a Euclid light reflective dry shake for the floor. The remaining 11,250 sf expanded the existing administrative areas and mezzanine. Scope of work included design-build services, shell improvements/construction, tenant build-out, and a comprehensive site work package.
