Project Details
DC BLOX, a leading provider of secure, reliable, connected data centers across the Southeast, contracted with Evans General Contractors on a new state-of-the-art specialized data center known as a cable landing station within the International Technology and Aerospace Park located in Horry County, South Carolina. Due to the area’s close proximity to the Atlantic ocean, the facility is built to withstand a category 5 hurricane and is connected to five pre-positioned subsea bore pipes configured for up to five sub sea cables. This system connects North America’s Southeast region with other continents and provides power to the cables to regenerate the optical signal, host local network equipment associated with the cables, provide collocation space for cable partners and local businesses, and serve as a regional exchange point for communications providers.
The 59,900 SF facility is classified as a Tier II, SOC2 Type II, NIST 800-171 Compliant, 170MPH+Wind Rating, Sea Cable Landing Station with Flexible Collocation Space. The critical utilities include 2N Power Generation, N+1 Redundancy, 15mW AC Power with managed rectifiers for DC PFE, UPS and Switchgear, and Indirect Adiabatic and Evaporation cooling.
Evans provided the following services permitting and entitlement, technical procurement, site and civil work, core and shell, tenant fit up, MEP systems, process systems, building infrastructure and critical utilities, automation and data systems, start up and commissioning, and equipment installation.
