Project Details
GIW Industries, a subsidiary of German based KSB AG Company, is a leading supplier in the design, manufacture and application of heavy duty, centrifugal slurry pumps. GIW Industries contractedwith Evans to construct a new state-of-the-art foundry at their Grovetown, Georgia site. With the addition of this new foundry, GIW has doubled their current capacity, allowing them to efficiently meet their customers’ needs, reduce outsourcing and improve safety of the casting process.
The 58,000 sf pre-engineered metal building boasts a 72 foot eave height with crane steel to support one 125 ton crane, two 75 ton cranes and three 30 ton cranes. Equipment installation included two 15 metric ton induction melting furnaces as well as heat treatment and shakeout equipment. A 25 foot deep pit was constructed to house the shakeout equipment. Construction of this pit included 30 foot deep sheet piling as well as a temporary dewatering system for groundwater. All storm water for the site will be collected and transported to an 18,000 sf underground detention system covered with concrete paving for equipment traffic and material lay down. Scope of work included complete shell building construction, equipment installation, and a comprehensive site work package.
