Great Dane

Great Dane Trailers is one of the most recognizable trailer manufacturers in the world. They are known for the innovative design and manufacturing of several types of trailers including platform, refrigerated and dry freight trailers. Great Dane contracted with Evans to design-build their eighth plant, a turn-key trailer manufacturing and distribution facility in Statesboro, Georgia.

The 453,000 sf building is a hybrid design composed of both conventional steel and pre-engineered structures along with concrete tilt-wall panels. The manufacturing areas included 124 specialty concrete equipment foundations that were isolated to reduce the transmission of harmonic vibrations to the adjacent structure and floor slab. The facility is climate controlled using an evaporative cooling system utilizing push/pull exhaust fans to maintain four air changes per hour. The building houses administrative offices, a product show room, foam storage silos and a hazardous materials area, and incorporates compressed air, weld gas, paint booths and process conveying systems. Three monorails and 24 bridge cranes, ranging from 2.5 to 13 tons, support production throughout the state-of-the-art facility. Scope of work included design-build services and complete shell building construction with all finishes.
