Project Details
Western Devcon is a well-known real estate developer with services focused on the development, construction, and management of commercial projects. On behalf of Lummus Corporation, Western Devcon contracted with Evans for the design-build construction of a new facility in Lubbock, Texas. This facility produces machinery and replacement parts for the cotton ginning industry. Texas is the top producing state for cotton annually delivering between five to seven million bales each year.
The 70,000 sf building is composed of a conventional steel structure with concrete tilt-wall panels and a mechanically fastened TPO roof system. The building, which was designed to allow for future expansions, currently holds 60,000 sf of storage and production space. Evans designed and built several custom overhead crane structures to allow for the incorporation of Lummus’ existing overhead crane beams, which were transferred from their Savannah, Georgia location. The building’s remaining 10,000 sf holds several offices, conference rooms, break rooms, and a parts area with service counter. Scope of work included design-build services, complete shell building construction, tenant build-out and a comprehensive site work package.
