Micro Lab

A manufacturer of nutritional supplements for the health and wellness industry chose Evans General Contractors to lead a design-build team to renovate and upgrade an existing microbiology laboratory within the operating production facility in Opelika, AL. The goal of the project was to upgrade the existing operation to a BSL-2 / ISO-8 laboratory to harmonize environmental conditions, processes, and procedures in laboratories across multiple production facilities.

The project included new once-through HVAC system with HEPA filtration. Pressure control and containment was achieved utilizing entry and exit vestibules to access the classified laboratory. Scope of work included upgrades to existing utilities, door interlocks, BAS, architectural fits & finishes, among others. Evans was responsible for full turn-key delivery from concept up to and including room commissioning & certification.
