Project Falcon (Makita)

Scannell Properties, on behalf of Makita, a Japanese tool and equipment manufacturer founded in 1915, contracted with Evans on the expansion of Makita’s new regional distribution center located in Flowery Branch, GA. The original 227,230 square-foot facility, purchased in 2017, sits on nearly 25 acres and was a speculative development built in 2016 by Scannell. This facility is Makita’s fourth US facility and includes a 4,000 square-foot training center which offers tailored curriculum and hands-on training.

Evans scope of work on a 66,129 sf building expansion, included design-build services for all civil, structural, architectural, plumbing, fire protection, HVAC and electrical. A geotechnical investigation was also performed for site work grading and heavy-duty pavement areas – all to seamlessly match the existing facility. The building was constructed of structural steel and tilt-wall concrete panels and includes eight 40,000lb dock levers with locks and two dock doors with edge-of-dock levelers. All ten truck docks have 9’x10’, 20-gauge vertical lift overhead doors. The project was delivered in seven months.
