Project Details
The voestalpine Group is a steel-based technology and capital goods group operating globally as one of the leading partners to the automotive and consumer goods industries. The voestalpine Group contracted with Evans on the design-build construction of a new automotive metal forming plant in White, Georgia.
The 48,000 sf building is composed of a conventional steel structure with concrete tilt-up wall panels and a mechanically fastened TPO roof system. The facility is fully air-conditioned and holds manufacturing and office space including a QA/QC room containing a completely separate HVAC system with advanced humidity controls. The production area features a 20’ deep press pit designed to support an equipment load up to 570 metric tons and (1) 25-ton bridge crane. The structure is supported by steel H-piles to handle the loads imposed by the heavy equipment and coil storage. Portions of the press pit and tunnel, and the coil storage areas are supported by 110 piles ranging in depth from 30’ to 80’ below FFE. Scope of work included complete design-build services, shell building construction with all finishes, and a comprehensive site work package.
