Our Approach

Cutting-Edge Collaboration

At Evans, Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) is a collaborative process that uses our advanced digital tools to simulate, model, and manage construction projects before breaking ground. At the heart of our VDC process is Building Information Modeling (BIM), a process that creates intelligent 3D models and allows us to streamline collaboration, minimize systems clash & rework while ensuring your project is delivered on time and on budget.

From conceptual planning to facilities maintenance, Evans applies a comprehensive approach to VDC to maximize project team collaboration and increase project efficiency. By using predefined execution plans, developed with design models and data, we simulate construction logistics, installation, existing conditions, and construction sequencing to provide you with the ability to make smart decisions based on current design and real-world project constraints. We provide detailed design and installation documents that enable a thorough visual and technical review of your project.

VDC & VIM Benefits

The Value of VDC & BIM for Our Clients

By using simulation tools effectively and efficiently, Evans’ provides clients with the greatest benefit and return on investment based on the construction type, size, and complexity of the project. Other benefits of VDC and BIM usage on projects are:

Reduced Cost and Waste

BIM can be used to provide value in understanding the costs related to square footage of prefabricated and installed materials. It also significantly aids in reducing financial commitments associated with design changes and minimizes rework and waste in the field through building systems coordination.

Increased Building Efficiencies

During the design and detailed building systems coordination, as-built models help clients evaluate any access and space concerns not only in the current facility but for any future installation of equipment or additions.

Shortened Construction Timeframes

Almost every construction project contains some element of phasing whether for the construction itself or the cost model being employed. BIM provides unique opportunities to review phasing from a visual 3D perspective that considers cost and schedule concerns.

Maximized Safety Efforts & Effectiveness

Our Virtual Design and Construction services help to predict safety hazards, which leads to better planning and is key to a safer workplace. Things such as leading edges, crane swings, truck and foot traffic, stair towers, fire entrances/exits and locations of extinguishers, public safety, site security, etc. can be accounted for early on. This level of detail and planning significantly increases safety throughout all phases of construction, including orienting new subcontractors to the construction site.

Limits Public Concerns

In situations where renovations, additions, or new construction will be in proximity to the public, our Building Information Modeling (BIM) services provide the ability to review and discuss safety concerns ahead of construction and include updates within the design. Items such as dust wall separations, barricades, signage, pedestrian walkways, road closures, crane swings, air right-of-way considerations, and nearby utilities/agencies such as railroads, pipelines, or mass transit routing are critical for planning and must be considered to limit any foreseeable concerns.
