Leadership and Growth Shaping the Coastal Region

At Evans, our strength lies in our people. Their passion, perspectives, and industry insights make for impactful stories when told from their point of view.

That’s why we’re launching “Voices Within Evans”, a new Q&A series that spotlights the people behind the work.

With a degree in Construction Management, Jesse Bentley joined Evans after graduating from Georgia Southern University and now years later, leads the company as our EVP and Regional Director for the Coastal Region. This is his perspective on the extraordinary growth experienced across Savannah, Charleston, and Jacksonville and his predictions for the future. The clear message is that progress in that region has been intentional, collaborative, and transformative.

Over the past several years, the most significant driver of growth in the Savannah, Charleston, and Jacksonville region has been the strategic expansion of port and logistics infrastructure. These ports are supporting world-class operations and have evolved the Southeast Coast into a vital hub for global trade, attracting major investments in manufacturing, distribution, and advanced industry.

We are proud to have played a key role in supporting this transformation, contributing more than 110 million SF in these fields, including corporate environments. This progress highlights the importance of development and long-term partnerships shaping a more resilient and competitive economy for the Southeast.

Looking ahead, the next several years present a unique window of opportunity for Savannah, Charleston, and Jacksonville to build on its momentum and solidify its position as a national and global economic hub.

Key priorities will include scaling infrastructure to meet rising demand in transportation, housing, and workforce development. As port volumes and population grow, investing in smart, sustainable infrastructure will be critical to maintain efficiency and quality of life.

There is also a major opportunity to expand the region’s footprint in advanced manufacturing, energy, and innovation-driven industries, particularly as global supply chains evolve and companies seek stable, strategically located U.S. bases of operation.

Equally important will be inclusive workforce strategies that connect more residents to opportunity, along with continued collaboration across sectors and jurisdictions.

By staying focused, future-ready, and regionally aligned, the Coastal Southeast is well-positioned not only to grow—but to lead.
